I had so much fun exploring along the shore of Lake Michigan with Hannah & Trevor during this cozy, fall engagement photo session. we had the best October weather, and these two made it so easy to capture their candid moments and authentic love.
i adore getting to hang out with my 2021 couples at their engagement photo sessions, daydreaming about what their wedding day will be like, learning all of their goofy inside jokes, and capturing their love in a natural & carefree setting.
i can't wait for your big day next July!!
Jordan & Jake had a micro-wedding elopement in a winery on Old Mission Peninsula in Traverse City. northern Michigan is absolutely stunning in the fall, and we had the best weather and autumn colors to set the scene for their day.
they exchanged their vows with just their families watching, and it was such an honor to witness and capture this intimate wedding experience.
I can't believe fall is here, but these photos are proof! this year has been strange and long, but at the same time it feels like it has flown by. I'm just so grateful that I'm back doing what I love, making people feel comfortable and confident in front of the camera and capturing their best memories.
elena & tycen felt like two old friends the night we captured their engagement photos. we had so much fun running around the woods, the beach, and even getting in Lake Michigan a little bit (much to tycen's dismay). they are so goofy, adventurous, and full of energy! and I absolutely cannot wait to capture their wedding day in 2021.
2 weeks before their wedding, their sweet dog mickey was diagnosed with cancer.
mickey is their world, the one & only member of their bridal party, and just weeks before the big day they seriously didn’t know if he’d make it to the wedding, or if the wedding could even go on without him.
we prayed & prayed, and their fluffy guy not only made it to the wedding, but he was the star of the show and his tail was wagging all day long.
the weather was perfect, their pup had the time of his life swimming in Lake Michigan and running around Mission Point Resort, and the day after the wedding Jenna and I both texted each other the same thing: “God is good.”
it’s little God-things like this that are getting me through this year.
i feel like with 2020 we have gotten used to expecting the worst. if aliens invaded tomorrow i don’t think any of us would be surprised, am i right?
but instead of focusing on all the bad and being prepared for the worst, i’m making it a goal to focus on the good and be hopeful for the best.
the little ‘God-things’ are not so little to me this year.
congrats Jenna & Cole!!
natalie and norm had a large destination wedding planned, but the day they ended up happening was intimate and right at home.
they had their wedding at norm's childhood home on the lake he grew up on with just their closest family and friends. everyone hopped on the pontoon and rode out to a little island in the lake, and this is where they said their vows and tied the knot. the rest of the day was spent riding around on the pontoon, partying on the patio, and enjoying the most incredible sunset to seal the day.
I'm so grateful to have been a part of a day this fun, this intimate, and this meaningful.
congrats you two!!!
cassie + clayton tied the knot in Acadia National Park this weekend, and it was the most perfect day. the night before their wedding we enjoyed fresh caught lobster with all of their family for their rehearsal dinner, and the morning of the wedding their families went out on the kayaks and watched seals splashing around while the bride and groom were getting ready.
all throughout the day at Acadia, we hiked around the park taking pictures with incredible views, we had impromptu dance parties on the cliffs and blasted pump up music, and after they said I Do we went with their closest family and friends to a seafood joint down in Bar Harbor.
maine is such a beautiful state, and I'm so honored to have been able to travel out here and capture memories for such an incredible couple.
i love you both, thanks so much for trusting me to capture this special day.
name a more romantic way to leave your wedding reception... I’ll wait.......
emma + matt paddled away from their wedding straight into the sunset and it was pure magic.
I always tell couples to schedule in some alone time at their wedding. at some point in the day- take a step back together, away from all the guests, and soak it all in.
remember why everyone’s here.
remember all the time you spent planning.
remember all the reasons you love this person.
and remember that after the sun sets on this day, the real adventure begins.
2020 may be the year of cancellations, but intimate weddings & dreamy elopements will never be canceled.
this was the dreamiest night. it felt like we were in the middle of a Moroccan desert, but we were really just in our own backyard exploring a new corner of Michigan.
we had champagne and macaroons while watching the sunset, and it was so magical that I seriously forgot I was still in Michigan by the end of the night.
amidst covid and the restrictions it has put on destination weddings and elopements, let this be proof that you can get creative and still have an exotic, unique, unforgettable wedding right at home.
make it personal,
make it you,
and get freaking married.
marriage will never be canceled.

this weekend we sweated our butts off, got eaten alive by bugs, and nearly attacked by wild mice. all of these things could have been tragic, but we had so much fun!!
we drank summery craft beers, played music, and watched the most incredible sunset along the shores of Lake Michigan.
ashley + justin are my kind of people. they’re go with the flow, hilarious, adventurous and well-traveled. they also are one of the resilient couples that has had to plan their wedding amidst the covid pandemic.
their wedding is just a couple months away, they have no idea yet where it will be and what it will look like, but all they know is that they’ll be married & that’s what matters most!
their attitude and perspective is so inspiring, and however their wedding ends up happening I am so freaking excited to be a part of it!!! 89 more days!!!
who the heck says you only get to celebrate your marriage once?!!?!?! karis and jake have spent every summer together in maine with their families for years.
they got engaged in maine 4 years ago (and I captured their proposal!!), and today we celebrated their 3 year wedding anniversary in their favorite place.
a fresh picked bouquet of lupines, maine’s prettiest wildflower, we explored acadia national park and acted like it was their wedding day all over again.
yes, onlookers said ‘congratulations.’
yes, karis and jake said ‘thank you!’
your love story is too beautiful to only be captured once.
your marriage is for a lifetime, so it’s definitely worth celebrating over and over again.
